In my approach to job shadowing and apprenticeship, I have designed a structured and immersive experience that caters to the learning needs of two apprentices at a time, allowing for a focused and intimate learning environment. The primary objective is to provide real-time observation of my work as an experienced facilitator, followed by dedicated conversations to reflect on observed actions and their implications, all while ensuring that the consent of the individuals involved—along with their families and loved ones—is prioritized for a respectful and ethical learning process.
This apprenticeship model operates on the premise that newcomers can gain invaluable insights by observing and learning from a seasoned practitioner committed to both the practice and their personal and professional development. By immersing themselves in the day-to-day activities of an experienced facilitator, apprentices can grasp not only the technical aspects of the role but also the subtleties of navigating the complexities of independent facilitation, ultimately bridging the gap between theory and practice.
